Students will learn basic techniques in designing their own characters and different cartoon faces as well as exploring the visual language of facial expressions. Students will learn how to draw a wide variety of popular cartoon characters including the Japanese style manga. They will learn how to use different tools and materials for illustrations, practice brainstorming to start the sketch, refine the sketch, ink the drawing, and apply colors to illustrate characters in a book or comic book.
